The film, whose title forms the changed first line of the French national anthem, tells the story of the Algerian war in three different chapters: "The Sahara lures", "Aicha" and "Vive l´Algérien" are the stylistically different parts of the film. Beginning with the political documentary, which also critically examines the role of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Algerian war, through the portrait of the nurse Aicha in a refugee camp on the Tunisian-Algerian border, the film concludes with an emotional appeal of cinematic solidarity with the Algerians. 1. "The Sahara lures" reports on the political and economic background of the Algerian war with special attention to the role of West German imperialism. 2. "Aicha" tells the story and the struggle of the Algerian nurse Aicha in connection with the miserable situation of the Algerian refugees in Tunisia. 3. "Vive l'Algérie algérienne" describes the solidarity of the French people for the fighting Algeria.
